Alaska… the Endless Frontier

What ideas do you have when you think of Alaska? Fog covered forests? Chilly glaciers? Fats bears surrounded by salmon?

So far I have been to Alaska three times and a fourth is planned for 2028. Each trip has had its own spirit, adventures, and awe-inspiring moments making me always wanting to return. I don’t think I have a favorite memory of Alaska, instead I have a collection, tied to the photos that froze seconds of those iconic moments.

What drew me to Alaska at first was its wildlife. As a marine mammal nerd- I just wanted to see whales, dolphins, sea lions, etc… specifically the largest member of the dolphin family- Killer Whales. Yet since my first trip I have wanted to see more and more… bears, moose, glaciers, just mountains in general. I’ve wanted to really see what being the ‘Last Frontier’ really means.

In my most recent trip, I took that to heart. I flew out to the remote Lake Clark National Park to see bears, I hiked on the Matanuska Glacier, and spent days no the water scanning for any sign of whale tails or dorsal fins, and was able to hear stories from people who lived and breathed Alaska.

I’ll be sharing some of these photos and the adventures that went with them in the coming weeks. Hopefully you’ll understand why Alaska is one of my favorite places and be inspired to relive some of your own memories, or be inspired to find your own adventure in the Last Frontier.
